Over 40 key industry speakers line up at Seatrade All Asia Cruise Convention 2012

The three-day conference and showcase exhibition taking place at the iconic Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal on 26-28 September 2012, will hear from over 40 key industry speakers discussing the huge potential and growing importance of cruise within Asia.

Asia’s most established cruise event, returns to Shanghai this September, bringing together a wealth of industry experts to discuss the progress, potential and the way forward for the Asian cruise market.

Widespread investment across Asia has translated into heightened confidence in its ability and commitment to developing as a world class cruise destination. With estimates of 5 million Asian’s cruising by 2020 and 300 million potential Chinese cruise passengers, the equivalent to the entire population of Western Europe, the potential for organisations to grow within this industry is enormous.

The three-day conference and showcase exhibition taking place at the iconic Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal on 26-28 September 2012, will hear from over 40 key industry speakers discussing the huge potential and growing importance of cruise within Asia. The opening session, The State of the Cruise Industry in Asia will hear from, Lisa Bauer, SVP, Global Sales & Marketing, Royal Caribbean International; William Ng, Chief Operating Officer, Star Cruises; Ann Sherry, AO, Chief Executive Officer, Carnival Australia; Pierfrancesco Vago, Chief Executive Officer, MSC Cruises.

Chris Hayman, Chairman of Seatrade commented “We have some of the most influential people from within the cruise industry lined up to speak at this years event. I am delighted to announce Mari Elka Pangestu, Minster of Tourism and Creative Economy, The Republic of Indonesia will be speaking within the New Asian Itineraries and Destinations session – a great asset to our speaker line up”.

Sessions being covered during the conference will include, The State of Cruise Industry in Asia, New Asian Itineraries and Destinations, Unlocking the Potential of China and Other Asian Source Markets, Focus on Asia’s New Entrants to the Cruise Business, Shipbuilding and Refurbishment in Asia and the Role of Asian Yards, Operational Challenges for the Industry in Asia and Asia’s River Cruise and River Boat Tourism.

This year’s event will see the introduction of two new sessions which will take place on Wednesday 26th September before the main conference sessions begin on Thursday. Cruise Procurement and Supply in Asia is open to all delegates and exhibitors free of charge and is designed for those with an ambition to supply the cruise lines. The Terminal Operations and Passenger Handling session is open to conference delegates only and will provide an insight into the current services offered by ports, upcoming projects and the focus points for future expansion and developments.

So far 20 cruise lines / operators are confirmed to be attending the event, which will provide considerable networking and business opportunities throughout the three days.

The convention offers participants a fully integrated package, including full conference access, showcase exhibition over two days and access to the social programme, which includes welcome reception, and the farewell dinner – Shanghai Tourism Festival Huangpu River Cruise Parade and firework display.

The 3rd Seatrade All Asia Cruise Convention is organised by Seatrade in Association with Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, Shanghai Municipal Hongkou District People’s Government, Shanghai International Port (Group) Co Ltd and is supported by the Asia Cruise Association, the Asia Cruise Terminal Association, the Passenger Shipping Association and the Shanghai International Conference Management Organisation.
