The Bangkok–Narita service has always been a key part of NokScoot’s long-term growth strategy.

Bangkok – NokScoot, the joint venture offspring of Singapore’s Scoot and Thailand’s Nok Air, launched ticket sales for the long-awaited non-stop flights from Bangkok Don Mueang airport to Tokyo’s Narita airport which will start its daily operation on June 1, 2018.

It’s been a long time coming, but our flights to the Land of the Rising Sun are finally set for take-off soon!” NokScoot CEO Yodchai Sudhidhanakul confirmed. “The Bangkok–Narita route will mark our first foray into the Japanese market after having flown to China and Taiwan for the past four years.”

The Bangkok–Narita service has always been a key part of NokScoot’s long-term growth strategy. Since the airline’s inception in 2014, NokScoot has been preparing for the Bangkok-Narita launch working through regulatory issues between the Thai and Japanese authorities.

NokScoot’s Bangkok–Narita flight will be instrumental in achieving its 2018 growth targets with strong demand for the route,” Mr. Yodchai added. “Following the launch to Tokyo, NokScoot plans to further spread its footprints in North Asia and we plan to add more new routes this year.”

To celebrate the highly anticipated launch, NokScoot is offering promotional fares starting from THB 2,777, Economy one-way FLY fare, tax-inclusive from Bangkok to Tokyo for travel period from June 1 to October 27, 2018. The special rate will run from April 23 – 25, 2018.

NokScoot will operate the Bangkok-Narita services with Boeing 777-200 wide-bodied, twin-aisle jet. Configured with a total of 415 seats, the 777 offers 24 Business Class seats and 391 Economy seats. Passengers can customize their travel to suit personal preferences, such as a variety of meals selection, preferred seats and additional baggage allowance as they wish.

Mr. Eigo Onuma, Executive Director of Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) – Bangkok office, congratulated NokScoot on the important milestone of its Narita – Tokyo flight launch and contributing to tourism growth between the two countries.

Travel between Thailand and Japan is booming like never before. Japan is attracting Thai visitors in droves, lured by the prospect of experiencing a myriad of uniquely Japanese adventures year-round. NokScoot’s adding a new route from Bangkok can only help drive bilateral demand, which the JNTO feels is definitely something worth supporting and celebrating,” Mr. Onuma, added.

Since Japan waived visa requirement for short visit by Thais in 2013, Japan has become the fastest growing outbound destination among Thai travellers. According to a recent Kasikorn Research Center’s (KResearch) study, Japan is the number one outbound holiday destination for Thais. Last year, 987,000 Thais visited Japan and the numbers are projected to soar to over 1.1 million this year. The report also noted a strong demand for repeated travel to Japan, with 45% Thai travellers to Japan expressing the desire to visit the country again.

NokScoot, a joint venture between Thailand’s Nok Air and Singapore’s Scoot, grew robustly last year. Its revenue was up by 44% from 2016 to THB 5.6 billion (US$175 million), carrying 37% more passengers to 1.1 million, while boosting its cabin factor to 87%, eight percentage points higher than the previous year.
