NokScoot offers new nonstop Shanghai flights on 25th February 2019

New four weekly flights to Shanghai will be opened for booking from 24th January with special introductory fares.

Bangkok, Thailand – NokScoot, the joint venture low-cost carrier of Thailand’s Nok Air and Singapore’s Scoot, is pleased to announce the expansion of its growing route network in China with the launch of direct flights from Bangkok to Shanghai.

The inaugural flight takes off from Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport on February 25, 2019, with four flights a week, with the route growing to daily service from March 4, 2019. As the region’s leading medium-haul budget airline, NokScoot forecasts strong demand on the Shanghai route as it continues to grow its impressive route network around China.

“Shanghai is China’s largest city and an iconic global destination for both business and leisure travellers,” NokScoot CEO Chief Yodchai Sudhidhanakul said. “This route continues our goal to fly to all or most of the major cities in China to better serve our Chinese customers. They want direct flights when travelling to Thailand and we are pleased to meet this growing demand. “

“NokScoot currently flies to Nanjing, Qingdao, Shenyang, Tianjin and Xi’an in China. The new direct Shanghai flights will serve to boost bilateral tourism arrivals between China and Thailand,” he added.

According to The Economist, a good portion of the world’s tourists come from within Asia thanks in part to rising incomes.  Chinese tourists, in particular, spend more money travelling the world than anyone else and account for 21 percent of the world’s outbound tourists. The Tourism Authority of Thailand reported that Chinese visitors to Thailand hit 10 million for the first time on December 19, 2018, marking the first time it topped the 10 million milestones.

Shanghai is China’s commercial capital that never sleeps. It grew in the 19th century and flourished to become a centre of commerce and global finance during its heyday in the 1930s. It is renowned for its Lujiazui skyline, museums and historic colonial architecture. The Bund is Shanghai’s most famous attraction and home the city’s most respected businesses, loved restaurants and famous clubs. Nearby is the bustling shopping enclave on Nanjing Road, plus the City God Temple, Yu Garden, and the landmark Oriental Pearl Tower across the in Pudong.

NokScoot will use Boeing 777-200 wide-bodied twin-aisle jets, configured with a total of 415 seats, on the Bangkok to Shanghai route. The aircraft is bigger than those traditionally used by low-cost carriers and offers an unprecedented level of comfort, with 24 seats in Scootbiz and 391 seats in Economy, supported by great fares for its valued customers.

NokScoot also operates regular flights to Taipei in Taiwan, Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, and New Delhi in India. More flights to India, Japan, and South Korea are also set to be launched later this year.
