REPORT-HONG KONG-PATA TRAVEL MART 2006: The Timor-Leste Government Tourism Office (TLGTO) attends for the fourth consecutive time the PATA Travel Mart in Hong Kong, PR China, from 12 to 15 September presenting its new tourism potentialities.
“Timor-Leste is present with a strong eye catch pictures, promoting the best tourism potentialities of Timor-Leste: dive, sea and beaches, mountains, hot spring waters, bird watching, nature, culture and traditions of the world’s newest nation. A nation to be discovered” Miguel Lobato, TLGTO Director said.
Is intended to transmit a country open to all, call the attention for the importance of the tourism development for the sustainability of Timor-Leste and attract tourists and investors.
“Consolidating a tourism destination is long term job” the Minister of Development, Mr. Arcanjo da Silva said, and added that “circumstantial events, cannot, and will not, stop the tourism development in Timor-Leste.”
The delegation of Timor-Leste is composed by the TLGTO Director, Miguel Lobato, other TLGTO staff and two private sector tour operators Eco Discovery and Grupo Sagres.
Timor-Leste has 1500 hotel rooms and receives 36000 international arrivals of which 3000 tourists (estimation 2005).
