Marriott Hotels has recently announced the opening of the Nagasaki Marriott Hotel, marking its debut in Kyushu, Japan‘s southernmost main island. This new addition brings the total number of Marriott Hotels in Japan to nine. The hotel’s location is particularly significant as it introduces the brand to Nagasaki, a city with a rich history and a blend of Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch cultures.

One notable feature of the Nagasaki Marriott Hotel is its direct connection to JR Nagasaki Station, providing guests with convenient access to Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen and local JR lines. International travelers can also reach the hotel with ease, as it’s less than a two-hour drive from Fukuoka Airport. Nearby landmarks include the Dejima Messe Nagasaki Convention Hall, Glover Garden (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the Atomic Bomb Museum, Peace Park, and Hashima Island (Battleship Island), known for its modern ruins representing Japan’s manufacturing revolution.

Karl Hudson, Area Vice President Japan and Guam at Marriott International, expressed excitement about this expansion, highlighting Marriott’s commitment to evolving with travelers’ changing needs and expectations. The hotel’s design, crafted by renowned architect Kume Sekkei, reflects Nagasaki’s maritime history. The exterior resembles a cruise ship, and the interior features patterned marble and natural colors throughout its public areas, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere.

The Nagasaki Marriott Hotel offers 207 modern guest rooms and suites, with the majority featuring balconies that provide breathtaking views of Nagasaki Port and Mount Inasa. Dining at the hotel is a culinary journey with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. The all-day dining restaurant, Harbella, offers a blend of local and Western cuisine, while The Azurite, located in the hotel lobby, serves afternoon tea and cocktails. For a taste of Japanese cuisine, De Jima offers teppanyaki and exquisite Edomae sushi. Additionally, the hotel boasts Japan’s first M Club, an executive club lounge catering to Marriott Bonvoy Members with Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, and Ambassador Elite status.

To cater to guests’ fitness needs, the hotel provides a well-equipped Fitness Center with cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines. For business and social gatherings, the Nami Chidori conference room offers a memorable space with a terrace overlooking the city.

Cy West, General Manager of Nagasaki Marriott Hotel, expressed excitement about welcoming guests to Nagasaki and emphasized the hotel’s commitment to providing exceptional hospitality and elevating the city’s status as a must-visit destination for travelers.

In conclusion, the Nagasaki Marriott Hotel’s opening in Kyushu, Japan, is a significant addition to the Marriott brand. With its strategic location, stunning design, and commitment to offering exceptional experiences, it’s poised to become a notable destination for both domestic and international travelers exploring Nagasaki’s rich history and culture.
