Korea goes 5 star to woo MICE planners

Meetings and conventions industry provides the Korean economy, and the Government showed so at the Korea Tourism Organisation's MICE Road show.

The inspirational Dance Troupe ‘Sachoom Dance Musical‘, mini-robots dancing to ‘Gangnam style’, a stylish PowerPoint presentation and a first prize of BA flights to Seoul with Hyatt hotel accommodation were just some of the ingredients that combined to create a wonderful  evening recently at ‘Claridge’s Hotel‘ for the Korea Tourism Organisation’s MICE Road show.

The Korean government declared this year ‘Korea Convention Year’ in recognition of the enormous contribution the meetings and convention industry provides the economy. Since 2000 the country has achieved significant growth in the sector and the MICE Road Show was a clear indication of how seriously Korea wants to become the primary meetings destination in the world.

A number of Korean based PCO/tour operators were on hand to create a mini travel mart during the champagne reception that greeted guests on their arrival. The evening continued in the Grand Ballroom of the hotel, where guests’ listened to how Korea’s MICE portfolio really can play host to every type and style of event, incentive and conference that is hosted on the peninsula.

The Korea Tourism Organisation in London is planning more events in 2013 to showcase the many facilities and opportunities open to MICE planners from this market.
