Kokotel to manage three new boutique hotels in Thailand

VELA be Ratchathewi

Founded by Japanese entrepreneur Rei Matsuda who opened the first property in Bangkok in 2016, Kokotel currently has 13 projects, including five under-development properties, in Thailand. It seeks to expand to 1,000 properties by 2026.

Bangkok, Thailand – Kokotel has announced that it will manage three new boutique hotels in Thailand under the Vela brand, the existing VELA be Ratchathewi in Bangkok and two newly-built VELA Dhi Udon Thani and VELA Dhi Nakhon Phanom.

VELA Dhi Udon Thani, scheduled to open in 2020, takes its design from Udon Thani’s role as a Royal Thai Air Force Base during the Vietnam War. The hotel’s design elements focus on the sky, the clouds and the concept of flight. The lobby will be a boutique business lounge, while first-class luxury cabins replace the rooms.

Also opening in 2020 is VELA Dhi Nakhon Phanom, located in the small Northeastern city famous for the Mekong River and its mythical Naga. The hotel itself incorporates the legend of the Naga and other local myths and beliefs throughout the property, with every room designed to provide a great view of the river.

The existing 72-room VELA be Ratchathewi will continue to be promoted as a place to ‘relax, socialize, eat, drink, and even work’, and in keeping with the desire to deliver the unexpected, features a living room rather than a lobby.
