JW Marriott Seoul reopens after extensive renovations

JW Marriott Seoul debuts in cultural hub with elevated culinary delights and a refined new design.

SEOUL, Korea – JW Marriott, part of Marriott International, Inc., announced the grand reopening of JW Marriott Seoul. Following an extensive eight-month renovation, the hotel’s transformation embraces the revolutionary city of Seoul through contemporary design elements.

The relaunch of JW Marriott Seoul signifies an exciting milestone for the JW Marriott brand,” said Mitzi Gaskins, Vice President & Global Brand Manager, JW Marriott. “We are thrilled to reintroduce JW Marriott Seoul to both domestic and international travelers and provide them with the highest level of luxury service and amenities in this captivating city.”

JW Marriott Seoul, which made its initial debut in 2000, was Marriott International’s first luxury property in Korea. Centrally located in the upscale and dynamic Gangnam district, JW Marriott Seoul provides effortless access to all central areas, luxury districts and a variety of leisure options in the city including gourmet dining, shopping, culture and entertainment. Directly linked to Shinsegae Department store, the newly opened duty-free shop and three lines of Seoul Metro, guests can easily access main tourist attractions.

The hotel’s public spaces, designed by notable French interior designer Bruno Moinard of AGENCY 4BI, were inspired by Korea’s modern aesthetic and transformed to reflect a warm and welcoming new look. Additionally, American design firm, Olson Kundig, channeled natural elements to refresh the property’s interiors. JW Marriott Seoul’s Japanese restaurant, Tamyura – designed by Casappo & Associates – embraces earthy woods coupled with eye-catching accents presented throughout the property’s other dining outlets, Flavors and Café One.

JW Marriott Seoul features 379 of the city’s largest guestrooms including two multi-level penthouses and 32 suites. South Korean interior design firm KESSON revamped each guestroom to embody a contemporary ambience with a sophisticated design, featuring warm grey and taupe palettes accompanied by a photo wall that beautifully displays the art of local artist Seungsang Park.

JW Marriott Seoul’s seven culinary outlets appeal to all guests tastes and range from casual chic to fine dining options. The Margaux Grill showcases an extensive range of dishes, including premier seafood and steak options. Diners can pair their meal with a glass from the restaurant’s impressive list of 1,400 fine wines – one of the most extensive collections in Seoul. Tamayura, an authentic Japanese restaurant, presents a traditional Kaiseki menu comprised of Edomae-style sushi and features a Western-style teppanyaki counter and authentic tea bar. Flavors is a distinctive buffet-style restaurant offering a diverse selection of flavors from around the world, in combination with interactive live stations featuring master chefs. Located on the eighth floor, The Lounge boasts a sophisticated setting with an opulent afternoon tea curated by Michelin star restaurant consultant, Alan Yau. The hotel’s prominent bar, MOBO Bar offers exclusive wines and inspirational cocktails crafted by the top mixologists with freshly picked local Korean ingredients. Café One features specialty Italian coffee and revitalizing espresso drinks while Patisserie serves freshly baked, delicious pastries and desserts.

Spanning three floors, JW Marriott Seoul’s new Fitness Club takes wellness to the next level with state-of-the-art professional exercise equipment, an 85-meter jogging track, indoor golf zone, squash court, basketball court, swimming pool, scuba diving pool, jacuzzi, cabanas and sauna. Special areas are designated for those guests who are interested in well-being practices including Ayurvedic remedies, meditation and healing.

JW Marriott Seoul features seven distinct venues, making it the perfect setting for conferences and special events tailored to groups and parties of all sizes. The hotel boasts over 1,460 square meters of floor space with a magnificent 766-square-meter Grand Ballroom and six Salons.
