Shanghai is to get its first boutique hotel, JIA Shanghai, as owner Yenn Wong announces the expansion of JIA concept from Hong Kong to China’s hottest city. JIA Shanghai will open its doors in mid-2006, two years after the launch of JIA Hong Kong.

“I am excited about introducing the JIA concept in such a great city as Shanghai,” comments the 27 year-old Singaporean founder and owner of JIA, Ms Yenn Wong. “and we will be expanding further with more new hotel and restaurant projects in Asia soon to be announced.”

JIA Shanghai will feature an executive floor of accommodation on the top floor with special facilities for the discerning traveller.

In booming Shanghai, JIA aims to emulate the success of Hong Kong’s JIA boutique hotel, the first Philippe Starck-designed boutique hotel in Asia which has since become a “home from home” for the crowd.

“Hong Kong was ready for a boutique hotel for some time and when the opportunity presented itself I naturally seized it”, said Yenn. “Now the opportunity has arisen in Shanghai.”
