Jet2.com launches new Blackpool to Jersey link

Jet2.com, the leading low fare airline, furthered its commitment to Blackpool with the launch of the airport’s first ever direct scheduled service to Jersey for summer 2010. The new weekly service to the popular Channel Island will commence from 28th May 2010 with flights now on sale.

Friendly low fare airline, Jet2.com, will be the only operator to offer a direct service to Jersey from Blackpool, giving people living in and around the region even more choice when it comes to travelling from their local airport as well as encouraging visitors to Blackpool itself.

With beautiful beaches, stunning scenery and a rich history, Jersey is the ideal destination for a short break or longer holiday. The largest of the Channel Islands, Jersey benefits from a sunny climate, numerous events and festivals throughout the year, such as the famous annual Battle of the Flowers, as well as being an ideal location for water-sport enthusiasts. Shopaholics can benefit from VAT free shopping in the island’s high street stores, markets and independent shops, while animal lovers can get up close and personal to a vast array of endangered species at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Jersey’s famous zoo.

The announcement means that holidaymakers from Blackpool and the surrounding areas can now book flights with Jet2.com to seven fantastic sunshine or city destinations for their summer 2010 break. Destinations now on sale include Jersey, Malaga, Faro, Majorca, Alicante, Murcia and Belfast.

Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com, said: “We are committed to offering our customers as much choice as possible when it comes to their holiday destination. This will be the first time that people have been able to fly to Jersey from Blackpool International and we are confident that this new route will be a great success.

“Blackpool is a fantastic airport which is easily accessible to people across the North West. We now have seven great destinations on sale for 2010 and look forward to welcoming many more passengers to what is an extremely important and successful base for us.”
