Jet Airways announces non-stop, daily Pune- Singapore service

Airline to introduce 3rd daily frequency between Delhi and Singapore catering to an increased demand on the sector.

Mumbai/Pune – Jet Airways, India’s premier, full-service international airline, will commence daily non-stop services from Pune to Singapore starting 01st December, 2018.

The new service – which will make Jet Airways the first airline to connect Pune directly with Singapore – is being introduced in response to a burgeoning growth for both leisure and corporate travel. Pune has recorded the highest number of arrivals into Singapore from a non-linked Indian city and this new service will fulfil this demand.

The flight from Pune to Singapore, 9W 22 will depart Pune at 05:10 hrs[3] (IST) and arrive in the city-state of Singapore at 13:15 hrs (LT). On the return leg, flight 9W 21 will depart from Singapore at 21:00 hrs (LT) and arrive in Pune at 00:05 hrs (IST).

Mr. Raj Sivakumar, Senior Vice-President – Worldwide Sales & Distribution, Jet Airways, said, “Jet Airways will be the first Indian airline to provide direct connectivity between Pune and Singapore. Singapore has seen over 36,000 visitor arrivals from Pune in 2017, which is the highest for an Indian city without a direct flight. The launch of this new non-stop, daily service will benefit leisure travellers, as Singapore is one of the most popular destinations for tourists from Pune. It will also attract business travellers mainly from the IT, Banking and Finance sectors as it provides seamless connectivity and reduces the travel time between Pune and Singapore significantly.”

Mr. Sivakumar added, “Guests from Pune travelling to destinations across the Far East, Asia-Pacific region and Australia can also now seamlessly connect to those cities using flights of our codeshare and interline partners. The new flight and the connectivity options it offers will surely give a boost to tourism and economic activities across the region.”

The new frequency will offer guests from Pune convenient connections to Auckland, Bangkok, Brisbane, Jakarta, Denpasar-Bali, Hanoi, Phuket, Jinjiang, Medan, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Manila, Nadi, Penang, Perth, Phnom Penh, Shanghai, Yangon, Ho Chi Minh City, Surabaya and Sydney through two-way flights operated by codeshare partners, via Singapore.

Guests can also connect to Da Nang, Hat Yai, Haikou, Hong Kong, Tokyo-Haneda, Okinawa, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Siem Reap, Sanya and Taipei through one-way connections via Singapore, operated by codeshare partners.

Guests from Pune get to experience Jet Airways’ famed inflight product and services, get entertained on hours of inflight programming which includes popular international and India blockbusters, shorts and TV series, an enviable audio compilation, while they savour delectable Indian, regional and International dining options.

Enhancement of the Delhi – Singapore route

The airline will also commence its third daily frequency on the Delhi – Singapore sector owing to overwhelming response to existing services. This third service complements the airline’s existing services on this route which are extremely popular with corporate and leisure travellers.

The third daily service from Delhi, flight 9W 16, will depart at 11:30 hrs (IST) and arrive into Singapore at 20:00 hrs[3] (LT). On its return leg, 9W 15 will depart from Singapore at 14:15 hrs (LT), arriving into Delhi at 18:00 hrs (IST).

Jet Airways has seen an increase in air traffic between India, and the ASEAN region. Industry air passenger traffic between Singapore – India has increased by 17% through 2017. Singapore is the 8th largest source of investment in India and the largest amongst ASEAN member nations. A growing Indian expatriate population in Singapore and strong India-Singapore trade links are fuelling demand for travel between the two countries.

Pune, known as the Oxford of the East, is rapidly transforming into a bustling economic centre. The key sectors of the local economy are education, manufacturing, tourism and information technology (IT).

Simultaneously, the number of leisure travelers to Singapore has also seen a rapid rise. In 2016, about 100,000 cruise passengers from India – the highest for any country – were registered by the Singapore Tourism Board. Student traffic too from India has seen an increase with Australia emerging as a preferred onward destination for Indian students. The Pune –Singapore flight will cater to this trend in the education sector.
