Recipients of the award for Outstanding Contribution to European Hotel Design have included such respected figures as Ian Schrager, Sir Terence Conran, Tim & Kit Kemp, and last year, the late Alex Calderwood of Ace Hotel.
The organisers of the first ever Asia Hotel Design Awards have announced that internationally recognised designer Jaya Ibrahim is to receive the Outstanding Contribution Award at this year’s inaugural ceremony.
The event takes place at PARKROYAL on Pickering, on Thursday 12 March and will attract leading hotel owners, operators, designers, architects and consultants from across the region. In addition to the Outstanding Contribution Award, a panel of respected industry figures met in Singapore last month to debate and vote for the winners across 12 architecture and interior design categories, following the announcement of the shortlist in October last year. The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony, which takes place during Singapore Design Week alongside key industry events such as Maison & Objet Asia and IFFS Singapore.
Awards Director Matt Turner commented: “We are delighted to be honouring a leading industry figure such as Jaya Ibrahim for our first Asia Hotel Design Awards. Jaya has created many extraordinary projects across the Asia Pacific region and beyond. His timeless designs celebrate authenticity, beauty and integrity, drawing inspiration from the cultural and geographical context of their locations. His body of work encapsulates the diversity, luxury and quality of hospitality design in Asia today.”

As with the European Hotel Design Awards, the judging panel for the Asia Hotel Design Awards features representatives from the world’s leading hotel companies, architectural practices and interior design firms to ensure a range of views are involved in the selection process for the finalists and winners in each category.
