The carrier Turkmenistan Airlines will perform flights on the route Ashgabat-Riga-Ashgabat once a week – on Fridays – on Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
On Friday, 13 February, Riga International Airport welcomed the first flight of Turkmenistan Airlines from Ashgabat. The new direction will help attract more passengers and open new travel opportunities for transit passengers.
“The new route enables the airports of Riga and Ashgabat to access new passenger transport markets, which is an essential condition for the passenger growth. This is also a new offer for transit passengers who will save time and money continuing their trip further – to Asian countries and China. On the other hand, the passengers coming to Riga will have access to the vast route network across Western Europe and Scandinavia,” said Andris Liepiņš, chairman of the board of SJSC Riga International Airport.
“We are very gratified indeed, for the successful cooperation of Latvia and Turkmenistan at the level of Heads of State and ministers that has facilitated our countries’ cooperation in the transport sector. This route will promote travel, business contacts, student exchange, tourism and give new advantages to transit passengers. And, hopefully, in the near future, on the basis of this weekly flight a transcontinental route Ashgabat-Riga- Toronto will be opened,” said Uldis Reimanis, deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Transport, head of the Latvian delegation to the Transport Work Group of Latvia-Turkmenistan Cross-Border Committee.
The carrier Turkmenistan Airlines will perform flights on the route Ashgabat-Riga-Ashgabat once a week – on Fridays – on Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The time of arrival in Riga is scheduled for 5:55 (local time) and departure from Riga – for 7:55.
It should be reminded that in the winter season 66 destinations are offered from Riga International Airport, operated by 16 airlines, whereas in the coming summer season the passengers will be able to choose from 87 destinations serviced by 22 carriers.
