Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Indian Airlines, is facing the brunt of pilot exodus with as many as 29 pilots leaving the airlines for greener pastures during the current year, the Lok Sabha was informed.

In a written reply, Civil Aviation Minister of India, Praful Patel, said while Air-India, country`s international flag carrier, saw resignation of four pilots, its subsidiary Air-India Express saw 12 resignations during the current year.

As many as eight pilots resigned from Indian Airlines and 29 from its subsidary Alliance Air, the Minister said.

However, Air-India Express and Indian Airlines had not yet accepted the resignation of 12 and seven pilots respectively while the request for voluntary retirement of one pilot was under examination by Indian Airlines, he said.

The Minister said the resignation was a result of significant growth in aviation as there was a sudden demand of pilots. Both Air-India and Indian Airlines and their subsidiaries were maintaining close interaction with the pilots with a view to retain their services, Patel added.

Air service to Khajuraho: The Minister said due to capacity and operational constratints, Indian Airlines and Alliance Air had to discontinue operations to and from Jabalpur and Khajuraho.

The two destinations are connected by regular flights of Jet Airways and Air Deccan and there was no plans with the government to restore IA and AA services to these destinations, the Minister said. (PTI)
