REPORT – Philippines: The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) proudly inaugurated the International Conference on Women in Travel in the Philippines, marking a significant step towards gender equality in tourism. The event, supported by the Philippine Department of Tourism, highlights the vital contributions of women and addresses the challenges they face in the sector. Despite women constituting nearly half of the tourism workforce in the Asia-Pacific, their representation in leadership roles remains low, underscoring the need for continued advocacy and action towards gender diversity and empowerment in the industry. Mr. Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO of PATA welcomed the delegates at “fantastic, beautiful, trendy, global Philippines” as he said characteristically.
