Hyatt Regency Thrissur in association with The Blue Yonder to organize ‘Experience Nila Legacy’ Project for India’s Independence Day

The project is being organized again as a part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations, to support local small businesses.

Thrissur, India – Hyatt Regency Thrissur in collaboration with The Blue Yonder, a travel company which promotes responsible travel, gets ready to organize ‘Experience Nila Legacy’ as part of India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations.

This project is intended to support and encourage indigenous artisans from the banks of Nila River and showcase their craftsmanship. As part of the project, unique native products like the Kilimangalam traditional grass mats, handloom fabrics, musical instruments, and products made of bamboo, pine and clay will be displayed at the LICC by Hyatt Regency Thrissur on August 15th, 2022, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, for purchase. They can also interact with the artisans. Nila river has played a prominent role in the social, historical and cultural heritage of Kerala.  The river is an indispensable part of Kerala as the indigenous culture of the Malayalam language has been created and sustained by the great flow of this river.

“Hyatt Regency Thrissur works towards lending a helping hand to the traditional artisans of our state. To commemorate our 75th Independence Day, there’s nothing better than celebrating the local artists who have carried forward culture and heritage from the day we became free,”  said Anish Kuttan, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Thrissur.

“By organizing ‘Experience Nila Legacy’, we want to showcase the rich and diverse culture of River Nila through the artisans that inhabit its riverbanks. On this occasion of our 75th Independence Day, we, at Hyatt Regency Thrissur, thought it best to pay respects to our nation by supporting and encouraging small artisans across the state to see them flourish and get their due recognition,” said Nishanth Nair, Cluster Director of Sales and Events, Hyatt Regency Thrissur.
