Hostelworld Free City Guides reach 2 million downloads

Hostelworld.com’s award winning content achieved a new high when their unique free city guides reached a milestone 2 million downloads. Launched in November 2004, the 3 page downloadable PDF guides provide travellers from around the world with a handy free pocket sized travel guide to accompany them on their city breaks. The guides are suitable for all types of travellers as they include information on how to save money as well as the city’s top attractions. They are available to download at https://www.hostelworld.com/pdfguides.php.

In April 2008 Hostelworld.com recorded their millionth download and just over a year later this figure reached 2 million. Currently there are over 50 guides available for cities in Asia, Europe, North American and Oceania with guides for Africa and South America coming soon.

Colm Hanratty, editor of Hostelworld.com was delighted with the record achievement commenting “Having taken three and a half years to reach one million downloads in April 2008, we are delighted that it has taken us just another fourteen months to reach two million downloads. This is testament to the popularity Hostelworld.com’s content in the online travel space.”

He continued “We now have guides for destinations such as Porto, Zurich and Cologne. Other guides to be added in the coming months include those for Marrakech, Oslo, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro along with emerging destinations such as Bratislava and Cordoba.”

Along with the downloadable city guides, Hostelworld.com recently launched a new video section offering award winning city video guides, user-generated video footage and 200 video tours of the site’s top properties where customers can get a unique insight into the look and feel of the hostels, giving them a more complete picture prior to booking. Customers can click straight through from the videos to the booking page making booking hostels quicker and easier than ever.
