The 2007 Gate One conference on Monday 14th May in the Singapore Suntec Centre will focus on anticipating change in the global airport arena and developing initiatives which will maximise vital commercial revenues.

Departing from the usual retrospective case study format, conference organiser TFWA is constructing the programme on an exciting, forward-looking and interactive basis on the theme of ‘Next Generation Airports: Anticipating Change and Finding Opportunities’, making the conference an essential event in the diaries of airports, retailers, suppliers and service companies.

Delegates will take an active role by contributing their suggestions at every juncture. In each session panels of relevant speakers will initiate discussion about what should be done to improve commercial revenues, rather than what is being done currently or what has been done in the past, and encourage participants to contribute to the debate.

The principal sessions at this strategic conference will be:

  • The airport scene: how do airports differ from region to region and why?
  • From hubs to cities: the ultimate airport experience
  • Airport marketing mix: how will/must it change?
  • Airport strategies in the new aviation environment
  • Managing risk: anticipating change and how to prepare for it – security focus

Most importantly the conference will gather in force all stakeholders of the aviation and travel retail industry in the Asia Pacific region for the first time since the introduction of the new EU-led security legislation. Frank O’Connell, who is spearheading the campaign to secure commonality of security procedures at airports worldwide, will lead the security session with input from a member of the aviation security department at the EU Commission, an official from the US TSA and representatives from key airports.

Besides the support of ACI Asia Pacific and contributions from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation in the Gate One conference, TFWA has already secured the input of major airports including Brisbane, Central Japan International, Hong Kong International, Kuala Lumpur International, Macquarie Airports, New York JFK, Schiphol Group and Singapore Changi plus All Nippon Airways and Tiger Airways.

Indeed Singapore Changi Airport becomes the new Airport Platinum Sponsor of the event alongside Nuance Watson as Operator Platinum Sponsor. Other major supporters are: Heineken, HMSHost, Hugo Boss, McNally Design, Morgan & Oates, Paton`s and SSP.

CEOs, Marketing and Commercial Directors, Heads of Retail of all the major airports from Europe, the Middle East, India, Thailand, Vietnam, China Mainland, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Canada will be invited to attend the conference.
