Galaxy Travel Distribution System Ltd., specialising in on-line global travel distribution systems for hotels and other ground services, announced at a press conference at World Travel Market in London the launching of Galaxy TBRS™ along with the signing of two strategic alliances.

Galaxy TBRS™ is an innovative Tourist Board Reservation System specially designed to assist national tourist organisations (NTOs) in capitalising on their own reservation potential, thus generating more income for tourism promotion for their respective regions.

Developed by Galaxy and marketed worldwide by Tourism in Action BV, Ltd, The Netherlands, Galaxy TBRS™ offers NTOs multi-product reservation capabilities for accommodations, packages, excursions, transfers and other products on a `pay per view basis`. This enables the NTO to sell products for its members in its own call and information centres AND to thrive on the internet, using one system, without the necessity of making any upfront investment in this usually expensive technology. Tourist organisations which employ Galaxy TBRS™ pay only a modest service fee when reservations actually materialise.

Galaxy also utilised the World Travel Market platform to announce and promote three other important corporate developments:

  • Galaxy`s strategic alliance with Connect Worldwide, USA, which has been established for the purpose of enhancing the reach and scope of Galaxy`s NMC network in over 40 territories worldwide for the contracting and providing of direct, wholesale priced inventory to Galaxy`s global travel distribution system (TDS)
  • Galaxy’s agreement with Alliance Reservations Network (ARN), USA, which has been made for the purpose of enhancing the host-to-host interfacing capabilities of Galaxy’s global travel distribution system (TDS) with suppliers and distributors, with the 30,000 properties that are already connecting and trading through ARN’s switch solution
  • Galaxy’s significant enhancements made to improve its groundbreaking Galaxy Billing and Settlement Program (Galaxy BSP), the travel industry’s first, in-house billing and settlement program offered exclusively for ground services, including Galaxy’s fully integrated seamless, credit card gateway which no longer relies on a third-party payment system and the capability of accepting 17 local currencies

Speaking at the press conference were Mr. Marco Gorin, Galaxy’s Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing; Mr. Tim Diets, Managing Partner, Tourism in Action; Mr. Eric Otto, President and CEO, Connect-Worldwide; and Mr. Todd Eden, Vice President, Alliance Reservations Network.

According to Mr. Diets, “Galaxy TBRS ™ requires no upfront fees, permits unlimited licensing, and offers multi-product inventory capability. The application permits local and national tourism organisations to earn money without prior investment, thereby providing immediate financial benefits.”

Mr. Otto, of Connect-Worldwide, said that his company is delighted to be supporting Galaxy’s efforts to accelerate its supply and distribution presence in many countries where it has little or no visibility. “We can help bring other countries to market very quickly for Galaxy,” said Mr Otto, whose company is one of the world’s fastest growing e-commerce sales support enterprises.

Mr. Eden of Alliance Reservation Network, said, “We have been engaged to dramatically increase the visibility of net rate hotel supply to Galaxy’s vast distribution network. We solve the connectivity issue between the hotel industry and Galaxy’s applications. Immediately Galaxy is now in a position to provide ten of thousands of new hotel properties to its retail travel agent buyer community.”

Galaxy’s Mr. Gorin, who formally announced the launchings, said that Galaxy is now moving into a new phase of aggressive expansion and growth. “We believe that these strategic alliances demonstrate the power of partnership and will establish Galaxy as the distribution channel of choice for hotel and other ground services worldwide.”
