First-ever public unveiling of IATA NDC Pilot Program at GBTA Conference in China

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) — the voice of the global business travel industry — announced the final line-up of speakers for a session dedicated to distribution and the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) New Distribution Capability (NDC) at its Shanghai conference 31 March – 2 April.

SHANGHAI – Yanik Hoyles, head of the NDC Program, from IATA will present a keynote on “Principles and Parameters of the New Distribution Capability (NDC) – Is there a need for Distribution Reform?” Lu Yan, assistant director from Travelsky, will then provide the industry, for the first time, an insight into the details of the first live transaction undertaken using the NDC standard under a pilot between Travelsky and Hainan Airlines. The session is designed to provide the industry with more practical detail on the effects of the new XML standard.

Panelists from GBTA, General Motors, the Lear Corporation and Spring Airlines will then discuss the pilot and the implications of distribution reform in more detail.

We have made some considerable progress in recent months in our industry in talking more collaboratively about the implications of NDC,” said Michael W. McCormick executive director and COO of GBTA who will also moderate the panel. “GBTA is delighted to be facilitating the next step, by hosting IATA and the participants of the NDC pilot, who gave us our first live transaction using the standard.”

The session, to be held on the final morning of the event, is split into two parts. The GBTA Conference – Shanghai, in its second year, is hosting the full GBTA global board and is expected to attract more than 200 delegates over the two day period at the Jin Jiang Hotel.
