Amadeus has started the launch of electronic ticketing in the Philippines for Etihad Airways the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. This significant move will provide the airline as well as travel agents and passengers with greater convenience and flexibility.
Etihad becomes the 37th carrier in the Philippines to offer e-ticketing through Amadeus. Damian Hickey, Vice President Airline Business Group Asia Pacific said, “We are delighted to welcome Etihad as the latest carrier to provide electronic ticketing through Amadeus here in the Philippines. They join the fast growing list of airlines who provide e-ticketing distribution with us, further strengthening Amadeus’ position as a leader in the industry, with the most e-ticketing carrier partners in the country today.”
Etihad’s e-ticketing launch is well ahead of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) deadline for 100% paperless ticketing by year-end, which is expected to deliver substantial savings to airlines.
“Etihad’s philosophy is to change the way our Guests see the world. With the activation of electronic ticketing in the Philippines, we are able to provide a fresh new approach to service on the ground. We shall continue to change established conventions in the airline industry in our pursuit to improve and facilitate excellent service to our Guests,” Etihad Airways Country Manager Juan Torres said.
