Dusit Thai College to host world-class international conference

The conference will be attended by people with diverse viewpoints from around the world, including entrepreneurs, coordinators, tourists, academics and individuals seeking to pursue self-development.

BANGKOK – Dusit Thani College will organise ‘Gracious Hospitality & Tourism International Conference 2017‘, a major conference event in Bangkok, between 29 November to 1 December, which will focus on sharing of academic insights and researches, as well as practical experiences, by world-renowned speakers from both public and private sectors, who will work out solutions to upgrade the tourism and hospitality industry, including raising the bar for ‘Gracious Thai Hospitality’ in the modern 4.0 era.

Dr. Sarote Phornprapha, President of Dusit Thani College and Director of Dusit Education Thailand Operations, where qualified workers have been created for the hospitality and tourism industry for 24 years, revealed that the college will hold ‘Gracious Hospitality & Tourism International Conference 2017‘ on the theme ‘Gracious Hospitality and Tourism Towards 2030‘ between 29 November to 1 December at Dusit Thani College, Bangkok, where academic insights and researches, as well as hands-on experiences will be shared by practitioners in the public and private sectors to reflect on how players in different regions and countries make use of their unique hospitality to impress customers.

The conference will be attended by people with diverse viewpoints from around the world, including entrepreneurs, coordinators, tourists, academics and individuals seeking to pursue self-development. The organiser believes that it will raise the bar for Hospitality 4.0 in the modern/international context, where communications and social networking play a big role in influencing the evaluation and decision-making by entrepreneurs and customers.

‘Notably, evolving views will be discussed. Talking of “Gracious Thai Hospitality in the Modern Context”, we need to deal with high expectations of all parties and, at the same time, prepare ourselves for borderless competition. This is paradoxical and it is interesting to work out solutions. Definitely, our world-class speakers, including, for example, Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Group Chief Executive Officer Dusit International, Mr. Paolo Cuccia President of Gambero Rosso from Italy, Mr. Yoshiki Tsuji President of Tsuji Culinary Institute from Japan, Dr. Mario Hardy, CEO of PATA, Professor Dimitrios Buhalis, Head of Department Tourism and Hospitality of Bournemouth University, England and Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, and high level representative Thai government agencies such from Minister of Tourism and Sports and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will help us find the solutions, which will lead to upgrading of the hospitality, hotel and tourism industry to respond to the gradually changing environment in a harmonious, balanced and sustainable manner’, said Dr. Sarote.

The President added that he felt very proud that Dusit Thani College, an educational institution that has produced qualified hotel and tourism workers for a long time, is trusted to hold an international technical conference, which reflects the success of the college as a Thai brand in winning global recognition. He expressed great confidence that students at the college will benefit from a pool of expertise and experience at the conference. This is in line with one of the college’s three education strategies:

He noted the remaining two strategies: physical development and curriculum development. The former involves development of the college’s physical environment and facilities, including the adoption of technologies, to best facilitate academic excellence of the students and educators. The latter involves introduction and running of new, highly innovative undergraduate degree in tourism and hotel management programmes that respond effectively to Thailand’s 4.0 economic policies. These will allow the college to maintain high education standards of the future workers and promote strong, sustainable growths of Thailand’s hospitality and tourism industry.
