China Airlines will inaugurate a new Taipei-Abu Dhabi-Vienna passenger service with three flights per week on April 25, using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. As a result, the current Taipei-Vienna direct service will add a new stop-over at Abu Dhabi, which will provide greater convenience for passengers traveling to the Middle East for business or pleasure.

By adding Abu Dhabi to its route network, CAL can serve Taiwanese business travelers and tourists flying to the Middle East, and businessmen and tourists traveling from Central Europe to the Middle East. The flight will also be convenient for workers from the Philippines and Indonesia flying to the Middle East. Abu Dhabi is the capital of United Arab Emirates, and is a major international hub for air transportation. From 1995 to 2004, China Airlines operated a Taipei-Abu Dhabi-Rome round trip passenger service.

In response to strong market demand, China Airlines will add two new frequencies to its Seattle route. Flights CI 022 and CI 021, a Taipei-Seattle round trip, will be launched on April 26, using an A340-300 aircraft. After adding the new flights, the Taipei-Seattle passenger service will increase to five flights per week, with three of those weekly flights continuing to Houston.
