A total of 5.38 million passengers passed through Changi Airport during the first two months of 2006, marking an overall increase of 11.2% compared to the same period last year. More significantly, daily passenger numbers exceeded 100,000 on two days during the Chinese New Year period between late January and early February period, due to the increased travel during the holidays.

Specifically, passenger traffic rose by 12% in January and 10.3% in February over the same months the year before. As at 1 March 2006, Changi Airport is served by more than 80 airlines with over 4,000 flights connecting to more than 180 cities in 57 countries.
