Cathay Pacific uses the VeriPaxTM Passenger Reconciliation System at Changi Airport

ARINC Incorporated and two customers, Singapore Changi Airport and Cathay Pacific Airways, announced the successful implementation of the ARINC VeriPaxTM Passenger Reconciliation System. Cathay Pacific is the first airline in Changi Airport to deploy VeriPax-the latest technology in border security.

Designed for stand-alone use at security checkpoints, VeriPax verifies today’s printed paper boarding passes by comparing the printed 2D barcode information against local or remote data sources, in real time. This provides authentication of printed paper boarding passes in just seconds.

ARINC’s Veripax at Changi Airport offers customer airlines such as Cathay Pacific the ability to adapt to evolving security requirements. Cathay Pacific General Manager South East Asia, Anna Thompson, said “This latest passenger reconciliation system aligns with the airline’s active efforts to provide passengers with seamless check-in processes. We are pleased to be the first in Changi Airport to adopt this technology to further enhance passenger convenience and flexibility in their travel.”

ARINC VeriPax technology authenticates barcodes in real time through a connection to the airline’s Departure Control System. VeriPax can also be expanded to check other data sources, such as the airport FIDS system or operational data base. It can match passenger names against local or national watch lists, check embedded digital signatures, and perform other queries invaluable to security checkpoints.

“VeriPax simplifies the airport experience. Passengers at Changi Airport can now enjoy a more hassle-free and user-friendly travel experience,” said Yeo Kia Thye, Director Airport Operations, Changi Airport Group. “Changi Airport Group is committed to enhancing the Changi Experience for passengers, simplifying the travel process in their busy lives.”

“VeriPax finally makes the 2D bar-coded boarding pass a verifiable document at any location. This is becoming a clear need, as demonstrated in recent industry studies and underscored by IATA,” stated Randy Pizzi, Vice President and Managing Director of ARINC’s Asia Pacific Division. “We are pleased to have Changi Airport and Cathay Pacific on board as our first key partners in the global deployment for VeriPax.”
