Ayana certified as Eco Hotel by TUV Rheinland

Ayana Resort and Spa Bali has been certified as an Eco Hotel by the prestigious TUV Rheinland Germany, in recognition of its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint through environmentally sustainable practices.

TUV Rheinland conducted a rigorous audit over an 18-month period, including a thorough site inspection, documentation review, interviews with staff and management, and implementation of an action plan. The final audit found AYANA met all requirements of ecological operations relating to Organization and Objectives, Purchasing & Safety of Hazardous Substances, Water & Waste Management, Office Supplies, Facilities & Surroundings, Energy Management and Safety.

“AYANA has long followed environmentally sustainable practices – such as our two water recycling plants, which have been in use for more than 10 years to recycle ‘grey’ and ‘black’ water for use on our gardens and ponds, our composting program, energy efficiency and use of eco-friendly detergents and other products. These measures have been in place long before the words ‘Eco Hotel’ became a trendy catchphrase. It is rewarding to finally be officially recognized and we are extremely proud of everyone involved in this intensive certification process,” said Clive Edwards, AYANA’s Rooms Executive and the person-in-charge of the Eco Certification Program.

“Yet, this is not the end of the story for us. The world is changing every day and consumers are rightly demanding that businesses operate as responsible members of the community, putting back as much -if not more- than what they take.  We will continue to assess how we can further reduce our carbon footprint, while providing the highest level of service, facilities and guest experience,” added Clive.

The Eco Certification comes shortly after AYANA was the first hotel in Bali to be certified as Tsunami Ready. Further details of the resort’s environmental programs can be found in the attached Fact Sheet.
