ARINC offers real-time flight information for guests

ARINC Incorporated announced it is marketing its flight information display system microFIDSTM to the hospitality industry. The ARINC microFIDS system is a compact, wireless version of airport display technology used around the world. It delivers up-to-the-minute flight arrival and departure information, but in an economical format that is easily deployed in hotel lobbies, business centers, reception areas and other common spaces. A range of screen sizes is available.

Already in operation at several high-profile New York hotels, the ARINC microFIDS system can enhance hotel bookings and dwell time whenever flights are cancelled or delayed. Fully informed guests may choose to remain at the hotel for an additional period of time instead of going to the airport.

“Hotel customers have come to expect more guest-centric services every year, and a value-added convenience like the ARINC microFIDS flight information display can be a strong differentiator,” says Christopher Forrest, Managing Director at ARINC Managed Services. “It can increase guest satisfaction, loyalty, and hotel profitability.”

A simple, low-cost subscription covers microFIDS hardware and software leasing, as well as full support and maintenance through the ARINC service desk, eliminating up-front costs and IT obligations for the hotel operator.

“We’re excited to bring the microFIDS system to hotel environments,” adds Forrest. “It provides guest-centric technology, revenue generation possibilities, and the simplicity that hotels are looking for. ARINC has 80 years of experience providing and supporting this kind of information technology for travelers in airport settings. Today’s hotels can have absolute confidence that both their microFIDS flight information systems and their IT support will operate smoothly and seamlessly.”

The wireless, web-based microFIDS system needs only a power cord to operate. Multiple configurations make it simple to deploy in a wide variety of locations, and it can provide multiple airports per screen and direct feeds for TVs. Hotel-customizable content can include paid advertising, weather, traffic, way-finding information, and promotions for in-house food, beverage and spa services, to boost incremental revenue.

Both the microFIDS application and the control panel can be run on an iPad device, providing a sleek and simple interface for guests and staff. ARINC microFIDS uses COTS standard screens from 10.4” to 57 inches, with options available for touchscreen and dynamic scrolling. Bar-code scanning technology is available to allow guests to instantly retrieve flight-specific information by scanning their tickets.

ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland with regional headquarters in London and Singapore, ARINC is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
