Adventure and destination enrichment highlight WLCVacations’ active cruises

From trekking through the wilds of the Amazon rainforest to snorkeling with diverse sea life in the waters of Hawaii, WLCVacations is offering travelers a slew of active cruises that focus on physical activities and cultural enrichment in destinations around the world. Ranging from stimulating journeys at sea to energetic pursuits ashore, each voyage provides multisport activities that allow adventure-seeking guests to immerse themselves in the destination while keeping active and healthy.

“Our variety of  active cruises reflect what our guests continually seek: unique experiences that offer adventure and discovery,” Ana Valente, president of WLCVacations. “Given this demand, these programs showcase physically active tours in conjunction with valuable cultural experiences that spotlight the beauty of the region.”

New for 2012, WLCVacations offers travelers the opportunity to take a spin through charming villages and scenic river paths on a bicycle on most European river cruises as part of the “Go Active” program. Passengers can drink in the sights and sounds of countries like Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Belgium at their desired pace. Traditionally recognized as relaxing, slow-paced holidays tailored for mature travelers, these river cruises give way to attracting younger, more active guests yearning for adventure and rich sightseeing in Europe’s most fascinating places.

The Galapagos with Espanola cruise aboard the Eclipse explores the best of the exotic island of Espanola, featuring activities such as kayaking along the jagged shoreline next to sea lions, and climbing to the top of inactive volcanoes where land iguanas and island hawks linger. Moreover, guests will experience the natural wonders of the “Big Island” aboard Safari Explorer on the Hawaiian Seascapes itinerary. Options to snorkel, paddleboard, and swim amidst colorful fish and coral as well explore hideaway coves and inlets are among the highlights of the cruise. Prices for the 8-day cruises start at $4,440 and $4,995 per person, respectively.

Ashore, nature-loving adventurists have the opportunity to explore the great outdoors in an invigorating way. The Tucano’s 5-day Amazon Odyssey program celebrates the heart of wild nature of Brazil by offering hiking expeditions along the Rio Negro and Amazon River to towering rainforests and remote villages all while observing and studying exotic wildlife. Prices for the all-inclusive cruise start from $1,650 per person.
