Accor announced the appointment of Ms Urvashi Puri as Director of Sales for its first International Sales Office in New Delhi, targeting the fast growing Indian outbound market. She joins Accor from Carlson Hotels India and has over 13 years experience in international sales and marketing.

In her new position, Ms Urvashi will be directly responsible for overseeing all sales activities in India, including communication between hotels and key outbound leisure clients and corporate partners in India.

In the coming months Accor will open a call centre in New Dehli, and another International Sales Office in Mumbai later this year. This is the beginning of what will become a comprehensive sales infrastructure focused on marketing Accor’s more 4,000 hotels worldwide to the Indian travel market.

Indian outbound travel grew by more than 10% per annum from 2001 to 2004, exceeding 6 million travellers in 2004. Over 2.5 of them took trips within the Asia Pacific region.
