Accor named `Best Global Hotel Chain` by TTG Asia for second straight year

Travel Trade Gazette Asia (TTG Asia) named Accor ‘Best Global Hotel Chain’…

Travel Trade Gazette Asia (TTG Asia) named Accor ‘Best Global Hotel Chain’ in its 2005 reader’s poll, the second year in a row the group has received this prestigious award.

Accor Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing – Asia Pacific Ray Stone said the company was delighted to receive the award again, and that it reflected the group’s consistent commitment to work closely with all sectors of the travel trade industry.

It is one of the great ironies of today’s travel environment that in a period of increased communication there has never been greater need for more meaningful, long term travel trade partnerships.

We intend to increase our communication activity with the travel trade in Asia through the trade media, increased sales activity and through expansion of our World of Accor events to at least eight Asian cities in 2006.

Next year World of Accor will visit Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta. Additional events in India and Malaysia are also under consideration.

Mr Stone, added: It is indeed a great honour and we would like to thank all of our travel industry partners, especially TTG Asia and its many loyal readers, for making this prestigious award possible for the second year in a row.

Accor Indonesia also took top honours with Hotel Ibis Slipi, Jakarta named ‘Best Economy Hotel Asia Pacific’. Commenting on the award, Accor Indonesia Vice President Gerard Guillouett, said it was fitting the hotel was recognised as Indonesia was the launch country for the first Ibis hotel in Asia.

We believe the award is directly connected to the Ibis commitment to deliver the right product at the right price to our customers. We would also like to thank all the readers of TTG Asia for naming Ibis Slipi ‘Best Economy Hotel Asia Pacific’.

The hotel has enjoyed an exceptional year, with occupancy running above 90% and revenue exceeding our expectations. Business in Indonesia is very good and Accor is well positioned with 34 hotels around the country. We hope 2006 will bring promise for another great year but understand it will be challenging because of the country’s social and economical situation.
