2012 scored a record year for IMPACT

A review of business performance in 2012 by IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Thailand.

BANGKOK- After a brief drop during the last quarter of 2011 due to Thailand’s massive floods, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre enjoyed a bumper year in 2012 hosting over 800 events and welcoming some 15 million visitors.

IMPACT hosted one of the biggest fairs ever to be held in Thailand, the 240,000sqm. Board of Investment Fair (BOI Fair). Other major events that took place included the 2012 Rotary International Convention which was attended by over 38,000 delegates from more than 160 countries.

IMPACT, which is Thailand’s biggest exhibition and convention centre, further consolidated its reputation as the main venue for automotive events, with yet another successful staging of two of Thailand’s biggest motor shows, namely the Bangkok International Motor Show and Thailand International Motor Expo. Other automotive fairs hosted included the Japanese automotive event Autosalon and the Bangkok Used Car & Import Show.

Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co.Ltd., said “It has also been a busy year for our own in-house exhibition organizing arm. A total of 8 international trade exhibitions were organized by us in partnership with various joint venture partners, covering a diversity of industry topics, ranging from construction, building maintenance, green building, engineering, and agriculture to health. Our trade show portfolio is expected to grow in 2013 with the launching of the fully sold out LED exhibition, and a few other new joint venture show launches which we will be announcing shortly.”

He added, “In 2012, we reached two important milestones by becoming the first exhibition and convention centre in Thailand to attain the ISO 50001 energy management standard and the ISO 22000 food safety management standard.”

The aim of our ISO 50001 certification is to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint. As an industry leader in Thailand, IMPACT is also committed to educate customers in adopting green and environmental friendly solutions and to do its best to preserve the environment.

“Our ISO 22000 certification reflects the commitments of our in-house catering team to adhere to high international standards of food safety and food hygiene, providing first class F&B catering and services for our customers. Our culinary team has done us proud once again by bagging the overall Champion title at the Thailand International Culinary Cup 2012 competing with some 500 professional chefs from Thailand and Asia.”

IMPACT’s ongoing efforts to develop and maintain a modern and progressive venue that provides customers and their delegates with a world class destination achieved several milestones in 2012. The venue completed the major renovation of its old convention centre, adding more meeting rooms and banquet facilities to cater to smaller events. It also completed the construction of a 240mlong sky-bridge linking indoor and outdoor facilities to provide customers with a truly integrated venue. Construction of new car parks to increase capacity was also completed.  The company is now planning to build another hotel to complement its present Novotel IMPACT hotel. The new hotel is expected to be operational by late 2015.

On the digital and technological front, IMPACT successfully rolled out its IMPACT Event Calendar Mobile App. This App allows users to search and obtain information on events taking place at IMPACT on their mobile devices. The App also provides information and promotional offers at its restaurants, hotel, directions and even a feedback channel for users. Since this App was launched in February 2012, there have been well over 70,000 users worldwide and more than 533,000 user sessions logged.

On the corporate side, to better reflect the organization’s drive towards achieving its business mission, IMPACT is changing its logo to project a new fresh look that highlights our four brand attributes: Proficient Partner, Passionate Professional, Progressive Platform and Personalized Solution to deliver its “IMPACT = Value of Place + People” promise to customers and partners.

“2013 is set to be another exciting year for us,” said Mr. Loy. “The outlook of Thailand’s MICE industry looks positive. Thailand leads the other South East Asian countries in hosting the most trade fairs. This positive outlook can be attributed to the progressive realization of the Asean Economic Community 2015 and beyond, with Thailand being the second largest economy in Asean, as well as its strategic location in the CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam) regional market.”
