Garuda Indonesia renews commitment to Amadeus Altea Suite

Extension of strategic IT partnership with Amadeus builds on the national airline’s vision to put customers first.

Bangkok, Thailand – Garuda Indonesia and Amadeus have extended a longstanding IT partnership which will see the Indonesia’s flag-carrier continue to use the full Amadeus Altea Suite, Amadeus’ cutting-edge passenger service system (PSS), and commit to exploring new partnerships with Amadeus in the areas of customer experience management, personalisation and digital.

Airline passenger service systems are mission-critical and highly complex platforms that form the technology backbone for airlines. Garuda Indonesia has been using the Amadeus Altea Suite to power its reservations, inventory, check-in and departure control operations since 2013. Since then, it has helped the airline achieve greater operational efficiency, boost revenues, and deliver a more seamless experience to their customers.

We have been investing heavily to transform Garuda Indonesia, modernising our fleet, expanding out network but more importantly, deepening our focus on customer service excellence. We needed technology that could capably support our ambitions and the Amadeus Altea Suite has delivered that and more. The transformation was very successful but we’re not resting on our laurels. As we continue to pursue growth and a focus on improving the traveller experience, it’s important that we continue to partner with a technology leader that is future-ready and shares our vision. We’re confident that with Amadeus and its people, technology and focus on innovation we’ve made the right choice to continue working with them. We look forward to taking the partnership to the next level,” said Nina Sulistyowati, Director of Commercial & IT Garuda Indonesia.

Adopting Altea also played a significant role in helping the airline efficiently join the Skyteam Alliance in 2014. Altea, a community platform for airlines, has enabled closer integration between Garuda Indonesia and its partner airlines, with real-time sharing of availability, fares, customer and booking information to deliver a seamless customer experience across the alliance.

It has been a privilege to partner with one of the region’s leading airlines, in order to help Garuda Indonesia achieve its business goals. We’re delighted that the airline continues to place its trust in us and we are confident that our technology will help it stay at the forefront of innovation. Indonesia is on the cusp of a travel boom, and Garuda Indonesia will play a critical role in supporting that growth. In turn, Amadeus is excited to help the airline serve more passengers with the hospitality and 5-star experience it has come to be known for. With the extension of this partnership, we also look forward to exploring with Garuda Indonesia new and innovative solutions to provide the airline’s widening customer base with the best-in-class digital experience,” added Hazem Hussein, Executive Vice President, Airlines, Amadeus Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe & Turkey.
