GANSU, China – On June 20th, 2017, the 7th Annual Dunhuang Silk Road International Tourism Festival and the International Travel Agency Forum began in Yongjing County, Linxia State, Gansu Province. The festival will be held for one month, from June 20th to July 19th. Themed “Experience the Gorgeous Gansu and Tourism Development along the Silk Road,” the event has achieved a successful outcome, bringing in a variety of travel businesses and expanding Gansu’s outbound international tourism market.
During the opening ceremony, the Gansu Provincial Tourism Association Committee had discussions with national travel organizations that included Gansu and overseas travel agencies about collaboration opportunities. Travel, festival, event, celebration and website resources were exchanged along with a number of signed contracts. Awards were also given to the “Top 10 Overseas Travel Agencies” and the “Top 10 Domestic Travel Agencies.”
During the festival, over 57 events related to travel and tourism will be held in different regions in Gansu. The festival will blend in the Silk Road culture, Yellow River culture, historical sites, local customs, cuisines, and sceneries that include events such as the following: Travel Promotion Night, Travel Products Exhibition, Gansu Travel Tour Recommendations and more.
Sponsored by the National Tourism Bureau of Gansu and supported by both the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), guests (from domestic and abroad) are able to enjoy this special experience and unforgettable tour. Both events have improved the international brand image of the Silk Road, bringing in more ideas, development plans and a brighter future for the province of Gansu.
