Star Travelers SG Pte. Ltd. suspended by Singapore Tourism Board for failing to submit annual business reports, impacting its travel agent activities and new bookings

Singapore – The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced that Star Travelers SG Pte. Ltd. (travel agent licence number 03297) (“Star Travelers”) has been suspended from conducting travel agent activities with effect from 27 December 2023, until further notice, in accordance with the Travel Agents Act 1975.

The suspension is a result of the company’s failure to submit its annual business profile returns (“ABPR”) and audited statement of accounts (“AA”) within 6 months after the close of its financial year. The suspension will remain in effect until Star Travelers submits their ABPR and AA, or for up to 6 months, whichever earlier. During the period of suspension, Star Travelers is required to fulfil its existing obligations to its customers but will not be allowed to accept new travel bookings.

The submission of ABPR and AA are requirements under the Travel Agents Regulations 2017. A failure to submit the ABPR and AA within the stipulated deadline raises concern over a company’s ability to meet the minimum financial requirements as mandated under the Travel Agents Regulations.

STB takes a serious view against errant travel agents and will not hesitate to take necessary actions to protect the reputation of Singapore’s travel industry.
