According to information from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and partner organizations, at least 70 million plastic water bottles are discarded in Bangkok and its suburbs each month. In response to this environmental challenge, the ‘Bottle Free Seas’ project is initiated to provide safe drinking water, reduce plastic usage, and aims to install a total of 10 public and clean water dispensers throughout Bangkok.
Ms. Uthaiwan Anuchitanukul, Head of Excellence and Sustainable Development at Central Pattana Plc., stated, “The Bottle Free Seas project is another initiative that we are ready to support and collaborate on with the public and private sectors. ‘centralwOrld’ is the first shopping centre to install the water dispenser, allowing people in Bangkok and tourists to refill their personal water bottles with clean and safe water for free. This initiative encourages everyone to use reusable water bottles instead of consuming water in single-use plastic packaging, contributing to the endless recycling of resources. We hope that by collectively making small changes, we can make a big impact on the world.”
Central Group, under the ‘Central Tham’ project focuses on sustainability through the cooperation of various businesses. There has been ongoing awareness of the plastic waste problem, leading to related initiatives under the ‘Journey to Zero’ campaign.
