Travel + Leisure’s annual list of the ‘Best places to travel’ rated the Margaret River (#15), Tasmania (#34) and Adelaide (#46) in its top 50 list for 2016, while Afar magazine chose Tasmania as its number three must-see destination in its top 10 list for 2016.
Australia has been touted as one of hottest places to visit in 2016 by a number of leading US travel publications including Travel + Leisure, Afar and Departures.
Travel + Leisure’s annual list of the ‘Best places to travel’ rated the Margaret River (#15), Tasmania (#34) and Adelaide (#46) in its top 50 list for 2016, while Afar magazine chose Tasmania as its number three must-see destination in its top 10 list for 2016. Departures magazine’s annual Hot 100 issue (due out January 2016) will include the Great Barrier Reef and a reference to Sir David Attenborough’s new documentary series, due for global release in late December.
Travel + Leisure’s ‘Best places to travel in 2016’ named Margaret River as Australia’s largest gourmet enclave, while Tasmania’s Pumphouse Point located on pristine Lake St Clair “takes remote to the next level,” according to the editors. Adelaide earned its stripes for its “dreamy” Botanic Park where WOMADelaide music festival will be held in March, and for its restaurants, bars and new rooftop solar-panel airport.
Travel + Leisure will feature upcoming stories about Australia from contributing editor Maura Egan who attended the Australian Tourism Exchange this year (ATE15). Planned stories include, the Flinders Ranges, South Australia (in March), Melbourne (in June) and Tasmania (in August).
USA Today travel editor Nancy Trejos, who also attended ATE15, shone the spotlight on Australia’s aquatic and coastal offering in a recent article about the Great Barrier Reef and her encounter with Hamilton Island’s Willy the Koala.
