Thai tourism representatives won top award for Tourism Action Plan Competition in Korea

The Tourism Action Plan competition is a part of the training program jointly held by the Korea Tourism Organisation and Yeungnam University so to share knowledge and exchange ideas in tourism development of the country.

BANGKOK – Three Thai tourism representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) recently won the Tourism Action Plan competition at the 2015 Global Tourism Leader Training Program for Korea’s Fellow Countries held during 11-21 November of this year at Yeungnam University, Daegu, Korea.
 
The Tourism Action Plan competition is a part of the training program jointly held by the Korea Tourism Organisation and Yeungnam University so to share knowledge and exchange ideas in tourism development of the country. It invited 15 countries from Southeast Asia, Latin America, and South Asia to send tourism industry representatives to join the training session.
 
Representatives from Thailand included Ms. Montira Prakonpan, TAT’s Chief of Policy Planning Section, Mr. Krida Srisomwong, TAT’s Chief of East Asia Marketing Action Plan Section, and Mr. Weera Bumrungsee, a member of ATTA’s Board of Directors. Their winning plan was highly applauded for having successfully acquired and applied knowledge from training sessions to initiate action plans that can really be used in practice.
 
The Tourism Action Plan competition was arranged at the end of the 2015 Global Tourism Leader Training Program for Korea’s Fellow Countries. The competition required representatives from each country to propose tourism plans considering four factors: current tourism situation, analysis, strategic planning and action plans.
 
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor said, “This is great news that the tourism action plan proposed by our representatives was awarded the top prize. We are looking at ways to turn this strategic plan into action that can strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand’s tourism, and to further the promotion of Thailand’s tourism among international travellers.
