The magazine will serve the dual purpose of teaching tourists and tour operators about upcoming destinations and products Thailand can offer, as well as act as a training guide for travel agents.
BANGKOK – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently launched a magazine called “Taste of Thailand” to promote the kingdom in Italy and help train travel agents and inform end-users about new travel opportunities and events.
By launching the “Taste of Thailand”, TAT has become the first tourism board in Italy to have its own official magazine dedicated to the local market.
The magazine will serve the dual purpose of teaching tourists and tour operators about upcoming destinations and products Thailand can offer, as well as act as a training guide for travel agents.
Advising this exciting project is well-known Italian travel writer and Asia-expert, Corrado Ruggeri, writer of Farfalle Sul Mekong (Butterflies of the Mekong), considered a classic of the travel genre.
Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, the Governor of TAT said, “As an organisation, TAT has always been known for innovation and for finding unique ways to promote Thailand. The “Taste of Thailand” will continue this tradition and enable us to reach out to tourists and industry specialists in their own language and get them excited about Thailand as a destination for wonderful travel experiences.”
The “Taste of Thailand” is to be published twice a year with a circulation of 20,000. A total of 12,000 copies are to be distributed to the trade sector and the remaining 8,000 to be given away at TAT events in Italy. It is hoped that in 2016, the “Taste of Thailand” will be released three times with a circulation of 60,000.
Mr. Thawatchai said, “We have every reason to hope that this magazine is a great success. There is increasing interest in Thailand among Italian travellers who appreciate the kingdom’s fine cuisine, laid-back, fun loving culture and beautiful scenery – indeed our two nations have much in common.”
A preview of the first issue was shown to the press in Milan at the Borsa Internazionale del Tourismo (BIT), Italy’s largest Italian travel fair, held on 12-14 February, 2015. Issue two will come out at the TTG Incontri, a two-day B2B travel event held in October.
