Restaurant Australia campaign launches in Italy

The Ozcars Awards run annually in Italy by Tourism Australia, recognised the endeavours of industry stakeholders to help increase Italian tourism to Australia.

Australian food and wine tourism was in the spotlight in Italy last week with the launch of Tourism Australia’s ‘Restaurant Australia’ campaign to more than 60 Italian industry and media at the Ozcars Awards in Milan.
 
Hosted by the Australian Ambassador in Italy, H.E. Mike Rann, the awards, run annually in Italy by Tourism Australia, recognised the endeavours of industry stakeholders to help increase Italian tourism to Australia.
 
The event took place in Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco’s new restaurant in Milan. Cracco, a leader of the new generation of progressive Italian cuisine, was also a guest chef at the Noosa Food & Wine festival in 2013.
 
Tourism Australia launched a major FIT tourism campaign in China in March, specifically targeting independent travellers by highlighting many of the country’s unique and most distinctive holiday experiences.
 
Ozcars Award winners included:
-Tour Operator, Naar and Hotelplan: ‘Best Australia Program’
-Tour Operator, Go Australia: ‘Best Australia Promotion’
-Aristide Maina Sales Executive, Cathay Pacific: ‘Outstanding contribution’, based on the industry’s votes
-The award for ‘Best Inspiring Media Report on Australia’ went to the makers of the blog, ‘Italian dreamtime’.
 
Other guests at the event included, Australia’s Consul-General in Milan Simone Desmarchelier and representatives from Tourism Victoria, Tourism Northern Territory, South Australian Tourism Commission, and Tourism and Events Queensland.
