NSW signs new agreement with Singapore Airlines to attract more visitors to the state

The NSW Government has signed a new three-year agreement with world-class carrier Singapore Airlines set to further boost tourism across NSW.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the new $1.8 million agreement with Singapore Airlines comes as the airline’s international services to Canberra are providing a boost for tourism in the Snowy Mountains and surrounds.

“This new strategic partnership will focus on driving visitation from key markets including the United Kingdom, Singapore, India, Indonesia and Malaysia to allow tourists to experience the magic of our harbour city and our diverse natural regions.”

“Investing in aviation partnerships is part of the successful strategy which is driving more tourists to NSW than ever before, helping maintain our position as Australia’s premier tourism and events state.”

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said NSW continues to attract more international visitors than any other Australian state, with over 3.6 million overseas visitors spending a record $9.1 billion to June this year.

“This partnership with Singapore Airlines is set to bring more people than ever before to Sydney and regional NSW to enjoy our sparkling coastline, fantastic regional food and wine, and unique flora and fauna,” Ms Chipchase said.

Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Commercial, Mr Mak Swee Wah said the new agreement reinforces the strong relationship with Destination NSW.

“We are excited to be renewing our partnership with Destination NSW for an additional three years, and to continue to provide the world-class Singapore Airlines travel experience for visitors to Sydney and regional NSW,” Mr Mak said.

The new agreement will focus on destination and event marketing including joint consumer advertising campaigns featuring price-led tactical offers and hosting media visits to NSW.
