Korea’s social distancing changes started November 1

On October 29, the Ministry of Interior and Safety announced there will be three phases of recovery and that phase 1 will take place for six weeks starting November 1.

On November 1, disease prevention measures and restrictions on facilities and private gatherings have been removed in hopes to gradually return to normal daily life.

On October 29, the Ministry of Interior and Safety announced there will be three phases of recovery and that phase 1 will take place for six weeks starting November 1.

Main changes under phase 1 are the following:

  • Private gatherings of up to 10 people in metropolitan areas and 12 in regional allowed regardless of vaccination status (restaurants and cafes limited to 4 people that are not vaccinated)
  • Restrictions on operating hours for all facilities, excluding entertainment facilities, are removed
  • Entertainment facilities and dance halls can operate until 24:00
  • Festivals, concerts, etc. are allowed up to 99 people (for crowds that are fully vaccinated, 499 people)
