Korean Air presents signature inflight meal “Bibimbap” at MATTA Fair 2014

In cooperation with Korea Tourism Organization, Korean Air once again introduced its traditional inflight meal "Bibimbap" to all visitors and strengthened its presence in the Malaysia market.

HONG KONG – Korean Air, the flagship carrier of South Korea, has come back to MATTA Fair this year since the MATTA Fair 2012 that drawn a huge and impassioned response from thousands of visitors.
 
In cooperation with Korea Tourism Organization, Korean Air once again introduced its traditional inflight meal “Bibimbap” to all visitors and strengthened its presence in the Malaysia market. Bibimbap is one of the most popular Korean dishes made of white rice topped with vegetables, chicken (to replace the original ingredient of beef for Malaysian passengers that cannot have beef and pork for religious reasons) and Gochujang (chili pepper paste).
 
At the event, a Korean chef who specializes in traditional Korean dishes, demonstrated the unique cooking method of Bibimbap and an executive Swiss chef further explained the origin of the Bibimbap and details of the recipe. Moreover, selected visitors were given chances to participate in the cooking show and join in the fun mixing of all ingredients in the Bibimbap under the chefs’ guidance. After the show, Korean Air’s flight attendants served the delicious Bibimbap to all visitors.
 
Apart from the Bibimbap, Korean Air also introduced another popular Korean dish “Samgyechim“, a Ginseng chicken stew similar to the popular Korean traditional dish of “Samgyetang”, to the MATTA Fair participants. The Ginseng chicken soup which is traditionally served in summer for its high nutrition content, is now served to recover strength due to excessive sweating and physical exertion during the hot summers in Korea. In order to serve “Samgyechim” inflight, Korean Air serves bite sized pieces of chicken with its traditional sauce on top of rice. An extremely healthy dish with premium healthy ingredients like ginseng, chestnut and jujube, “Samgyechim” is highly sought after by both local and international passengers!
 
The reason why we held the traditional Korean inflight meal cooking show again was to continuously introduce the unique Korean culture to the world as a ‘Korean Cultural Ambassador.” said Korean Air’s Kuala Lumpur regional manager, Jae Hoon Jin. “When more people are interested in the Korean culture through this event, they are more likely to visit Korea again. Eventually, more customers will choose to fly with Korean Air as it provides passengers with high quality inflight services and an extensive global network.” he added.
 
Korean Air currently operates daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Seoul/Incheon. Traveling from Kuala Lumpur to the Americas, Japan and China is expected to be more hassle-free with flights transfer via the award-winning Seoul/Incheon International Airport. Beginning in May this year, Korean Air launched nonstop service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Incheon International Airport in Seoul, bringing maximum comfort and premium services to consumers.
 
Korean Air, currently celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, is the first airline that started serving Bibimbap as an inflight meal and received the prestigious Mercury Award from IFCA (International Flight Catering Association) in 1998. As a Korean cultural ambassador, the airline has been participating in renowned world travel fairs held in various cities such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Berlin, Madrid, and Auckland. Korean Air will continue its efforts to promote Korean culture and taste to the world.
