KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Genting Cruise Lines collaborated with Make-A-Wish Malaysia to be part of this year’s World Wish Day 2018 celebration. In conjunction with World Wish Day 2018 on 29 April, Genting Cruise Lines invited and hosted over 130 special guests consisting of children with critical illnesses, together with their loved ones and family members, as well as volunteers from Make-A-Wish Malaysia for a memorable port-stay event aboard Star CruisesSuperStar Libra in Port Klang, Malaysia.

“On behalf of Genting Cruise Lines and our founding brand, Star Cruises, we are honoured to be given the opportunity to work with Make-A-Wish Malaysia and be part of this year’s World Wish Day 2018 celebration in Kuala Lumpur. Through extraordinary and memorable experiences, we strive to inspire hope, love and joy for the courageous children and their entire family as they continue to stay strong and positive through their treatment and recovery,” said Mr Kent Zhu, President of Genting Cruise Lines. “We sincerely hope today’s special event on board SuperStar Libra will put a smile on the children’s faces and make a difference in their lives, as well as the communities that we strive to serve.”

“World Wish Day 2018 is an opportunity for Make-A-Wish Malaysia to reconnect with recipients of our wish program since 2010, and we are honoured to partner Genting Cruise Lines, a long term sponsor of ours, to celebrate this memorable occasion.  The children and their families are extremely happy to be here today and we are most grateful to the Management and Crew for their wonderful hospitality. Many of these children are still coping with their critical illness and we hope today’s experience will further empower them with positivity to continue their medical battle,” said Ms. Irene Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Make-A-Wish Malaysia.

“Once a wish has been granted, the family’s relationship with Make-A-Wish Malaysia continues and we are so pleased to hear their life-affirming stories and see how much these children have grown,” she said.

The Captain and crewmembers of Star Cruises’ SuperStar Libra welcomed the invited children and family members on board for a delightful morning, packed with surprises and exciting entertainment and activities to celebrate World Wish Day 2018. The invited guests were treated to a morning brunch upon arrival on board the ship, specially created by SuperStar Libra’s popular and award-winning chefs to celebrate the occasion. The children and family members were also greeted by Star Cruises’ adorable mascots, Captain Charlie and Charlene, before being entertained by the ship’s magician with his dazzling magical performances, followed by a special singing performance by Ara of the Melody Quartet. For an interactive experience, the children were invited up on stage to participate in various fun and games together with the ship crew and a personalized ship tour was also organized for the invited guests by the SuperStar Libra Captain and crewmembers.

Make-A-Wish Malaysia’s collaboration with Genting Cruise Lines this year provides the opportunity for the invited children and their families to put aside their challenges for a day by immersing themselves in the activities organised on World Wish Day® 2018 aboard Star Cruises’ SuperStar Libra. Each wish fulfilled provides families with the hope, strength, joy, and empowerment to once again take up the fight against the medical challenges they face.
