Indonesian movie star Joe Taslim has been busy exploring the wonders of New Zealand and sharing it all with his fans.
JAKARTA – Joe Taslim and luxury travel magazine, DestinAsian Indonesia, were brought to New Zealand as a part of Tourism New Zealand‘s International Media Programme, for a ten day trip visiting the West Coast of the South Island. The trip ended with a two night stay on Waiheke Island.
Both Taslim and DestinAsian Indonesia posted extensively about their trip using their own social media channels including Instagram and Twitter, on which Taslim alone has over 150,000 followers.
A well-known movie star in Indonesia, Taslim, is best known for his roles in martial arts film ‘The Raid’, and the recent block buster hit ‘The Fast and Furious 6’.
Director of Trade, PR and Major Events, Justin Watson, says securing the star’s visit through DestinAsian Indonesia is a great result as the organisation works to increase awareness of New Zealand as a holiday destination in Indonesia.
Indonesia is one of three priority ’emerging markets’ identified as part of Tourism New Zealand’s three year marketing strategy for the potential they show as a source of visitor arrivals.
“Having Taslim promote the beauty of our country and the range of exciting activities he took part in while he was here with his fans, provides great cut-through with our target audience – and extends the reach of our own marketing activities that are now underway in market.”

The visit will also result in a feature article in DestinAsian Indonesia on the West Coast, including the TranzAlpine train experience and visiting the Franz Joseph glacier as well as an introduction to New Zealand wine and art on Waiheke Island.
