Highlighting the PATA International Conference on “Women in Travel” in Bohol, this event showcases influential women driving progress, equality, and innovation in the travel sector.

The travel and hospitality sector stands on the brink of transformative change, heralded by the remarkable women leading its journey. The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) International Conference on “Women in Travel,” set to take place from 20th to 22nd March 2024 in Bohol, Philippines, underscores this pivotal moment. This assembly is more than a conference; it’s a beacon for progress, equality, and innovation in the industry.

A Distinguished Panel of Visionaries

The conference boasts an impressive roster of speakers, each bringing a wealth of experience and insight to the forefront. Leading the charge is H.E. Christina Garcia Frasco, the Tourism Secretary of the Republic of the Philippines, with a keynote address that is poised to inspire and ignite. Her leadership and vision for the Philippine tourism sector have been pivotal in navigating the challenges of the modern travel landscape.

Accompanying her in setting the stage is Atty. Mae Elaine T. Bathan, Undersecretary for Legal and Special Concerns and Chief of Staff at the Office of the Secretary and Chairperson for the Gender and Development Focal Point System of the Department of Tourism, Philippines. Her opening remarks are anticipated to lay a profound foundation for the discussions to follow, emphasizing the role of governance in fostering an inclusive and equitable travel industry.

Shradha Shrestha, a manager at the Nepal Tourism Board, will participate in a crucial panel discussion on “Sustainable Travel: Women as Agents of Change.” Her insights will likely explore the symbiotic relationship between sustainability in travel and the empowerment of women, presenting case studies and strategies from Nepal’s perspective.

Baidi Li, Senior Vice President Commercial for Asia-Pacific at Go City, Singapore, will share her experiences in “Women Behind the Scenes.” This session aims to shed light on the instrumental roles women play in shaping travel experiences and policies, often from behind the scenes, driving innovation and excellence.

Lastly, Erica Patricia Øien, an Airbnb Community Leader and Superhost Ambassador from the Philippines, will engage in the “Panel Discussion – Breaking Barriers: Women’s Empowerment in the Travel Industry.” Her narrative is expected to delve into the grassroots level empowerment and challenges faced by women in the industry, fostering a dialogue on overcoming these barriers and celebrating successes.
