Australian associations are welcoming the chance to learn more about New Zealand’s business event offering.
Four ‘taste of New Zealand’ events are being held across Australia in the coming week to illustrate the range of world class venues, accommodation, activities and cuisine on offer across the Tasman.
An attendee said “Our association has a long history, it would be fantastic to merge the old with new and create a unique experience in a completely new destination for our members buy holding an event in New Zealand. Printing was one of the first industries to get back on their feet following the Christchurch earthquake and this would be great scene setter for us holding a conference in New Zealand,” Georgia Willesee, National Event Manager from the Printing Industries Association of Australia.
Lisa Gardiner, Manager Business Events and Premium, Tourism New Zealand says “Association event organisers are always on the lookout for a unique and memorable experience for their delegates.”
The events invite associations to sample New Zealand’s conference offering and will be attended by convention bureaus representing different regions of New Zealand. The bureaus will showcase their local venues, activities, accommodation and cuisine. Air New Zealand will be present and bring to life the ease of getting to and around the country.
The next event takes place in Sydney this evening followed by Canberra and Brisbane events.
Associations hold annual events that can attract hundreds of delegates. With over 18,000 active associations across Australia they represent a huge conference market which New Zealand seeks to attract across the Tasman.
“Often association events are held annually so there is pressure for organisers to deliver something new and different to attract delegates.”
“The event format allows us to give attendees a real understanding of the different regional experiences New Zealand offers. Importantly it also shows how easy it is to travel to and from each region and organisers can participate in creating their perfect ‘event recipe’ along the way.”
“This is a great example of how New Zealand’s close knit business events community work together to create something unique for clients and demonstrate the ease of conferencing in New Zealand. “
Tourism New Zealand works closely with event organisers to have New Zealand considered as their conferencing location. The support on offer includes funding to deliver a feasibility study, paid site inspections and delegate boosting services to ensure conference organisers meet their registration numbers.
“It’s never been easier to get to New Zealand with more direct flights and increased flight capacity.”
Nonstop flights to New Zealand operate from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns and Canberra.”
