Taking on then the challenge of General Manager in Cambodia, her most recent role was to open the first Marriott –
Courtyard branded property in the country.
Marriott International has officially announced the appointment of Ashley Lai as General Manager of Sheraton Samui
Resort.
Ashley, a graduate of the University of Hawaii has worked with Marriott International for over 15 years, initially at the
JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur. In December 2013, Ashley transferred to the JW Marriott Phuket Resort &
Spa as Resident Manager where she was recognized for her leadership as JW Marriott Rooms Leader of the Year.
During her tenure, the hotel achieved numerous accolades and awards including TripAdvisor’s 2015 Traveler’s Choice,
#1 Hotel for Families in Thailand, 2015 Top 25 resorts in Asia by Conde Nast Traveler US Reader’s Choice Award, and
Award of Excellence for Resorts in the 10th Thailand Tourism Award.

Courtyard branded property in the country. The Courtyard by Marriott Resort is in the historic city of Siem Reap with a
beautiful full-service spa and gorgeous roof top bar with panoramic views of the city and Angkor Wat in the horizon.
Returning to Thailand, Ashley has now joined the Sheraton Samui Resort as General Manager. Sheraton Samui Resort
is a family-friendly upscale property, located on the beautiful beachfront of Chaweng Noi. Drawing on previous
experiences, Ashley is dedicated to leading the team in maintaining quality service, creating a supportive workplace
environment, and encouraging the team to go above and beyond to exceed expectations.
