Malaysia is Your ‘Most Expected MICE Destination’ for the Year 2020

This award aims to commend teams and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to China’s MICE industry and set pioneering examples for the development of China’s MICE industry.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Malaysia’s status as Asia’s preferred destination for business events has been recognised at the 13th China MICE Industry Golden Chair Awards as the country has been awarded as No 4th Most Expected MICE Destination for the year 2020. Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is honoured to be conferred the award presented by MICE Industry Golden Chair Awards for the 5th consecutive year.

The Golden Chair Award was initiated and established in 2007 by the China MICE Magazine, a leading high-end tourism and conference and exhibition publication representing China. This award aims to commend teams and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to China’s MICE industry and set pioneering examples for the development of China’s MICE industry. The award received is highly significant in ensuring encouragement and promotion for the common progress and high-quality development of the Malaysia’s business events industry.

“Each Golden Chair award represents the outstanding performance of the award-winning unit in the past year, as well as the important industry position it has occupied in the China Business MICE and tourism market. The annual Golden Chair award also carries our good expectations for the future recovery and prosperity of the MICE industry and strives for a modest contribution to the development of the industry,” mentioned by MICE magazine.

“The year 2020 has been very challenging for Malaysia’s business events industry due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. Nevertheless, MyCEB has worked closely with the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) and Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM) to formulate MICE SOP’s which was endorsed by the Malaysian government. To add, MyCEB has also launched the Meet in Malaysia campaign that is still ongoing until the month of December 2021 to further boost the BE industry and entice more international stakeholders,” says Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau.
