Bangkok, Thailand – Best Western Hotels & Resorts will soon make its debut in Kyoto, Japan’s imperial capital and cultural heart, following the signing of an exquisite new hotel that will also mark the Japanese launch of the BW Signature Collection.

Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2020, The Hotel Kyoto Palace, BW Signature Collection by Best Western will be nestled in the city’s central Nakagyo Ward, which is home to many of Kyoto’s temples and museums, as well as shops and restaurants. In keeping with this charming area, the hotel will be designed in a low-rise style with a wooden façade.

The 57 guest rooms will include Double, Twin, Deluxe Twin and Premier Twin options, ranging in size from 22.9 to 40.4 square meters. All rooms will be fully equipped with contemporary facilities and comfortable bedding. Complimentary Wi-Fi will keep guests connected throughout the stay.

The agreement for The Hotel Kyoto Palace, BW Signature Collection by Best Western was signed with Landowner Japan Co., Ltd., the hotel’s developer and a long-term partner of Best Western. The two companies already collaborate on two other hotels in Japan: Best Western Hotel Takayama and The Hotel Nagasaki, BW Premier Collection.

“Kyoto is one of the world’s most enchanting cities; a cultural treasure trove that reflects the grace and beauty of Japanese heritage. We are thrilled to be able to introduce our first hotel in this captivating city, and the first BW Signature Collection hotel in Japan. This elegant property will perfectly blend Best Western’s international accommodation and service standards with Japan’s gracious hospitality. We look forward to working with Landowner Japan Co., Ltd. once again to bring this exceptional project to life,” commented Olivier Berrivin, Best Western Hotels & Resorts’ Managing Director of International Operations – Asia.

Kyoto and its surrounding regions are home to approximately 2,000 temples and shrines, plus an incredible 17 UNESCO World Heritage-listed landmarks and about 20 percent of Japan’s official National Treasures. Guests can spend rewarding days exploring the city’s beautiful architecture, strolling through scenic gardens, or discovering classical wooden shophouses and restaurants. Kyoto is also highly accessible; located within the Kansai metropolitan region, the city has an extensive network of transport links including Shinkansen bullet train connections to Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.

The signing of The Hotel Kyoto Palace, BW Signature Collection by Best Western marks the latest step in Best Western’s impressive Japanese expansion strategy. The group now operates 18 properties all across the Land of the Rising Sun, ranging from sleek urban hotels to idyllic beach resorts, convenient airport hotels and more.
