Tokyo EDITION, Ginza opens its doors revolutionizing Tokyo’s luxury hotel scene

Tokyo EDITION Ginza

The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza, a fusion of Japanese tradition and modern design, opens as a luxury social and cultural hub.

In the bustling heart of Ginza, Tokyo‘s renowned district for luxury and style, the Tokyo EDITION, Ginza has recently opened its doors, offering a fresh perspective on high-end hospitality. This new icon in Tokyo, a collaborative creation by Ian Schrager and Marriott International in partnership with acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, stands as a testament to the fusion of traditional Japanese culture with cutting-edge design.

As the second EDITION hotel in Tokyo, following the success of the Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon, the Tokyo EDITION, Ginza is set to become a pivotal social and cultural hub. The hotel’s location, in a district known for its fine dining, luxury shopping, and architectural wonders, makes it an ideal choice for discerning travelers seeking a blend of tradition and modernity.

Ginza is a district where the cutting edge of the world and traditional Japanese culture are interwoven,” says Kengo Kuma. “It’s an area where various city functions overlap and are woven together. Inspired by the concept of ‘weaving’, we have designed the Tokyo EDITION, Ginza in this human-scale and walkable city as a new landmark weaving Ginza together and connecting it to the world.”

Spanning 14 stories, The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza offers 86 guest rooms, including 10 spacious suites. These accommodations are notable for their generous size – the largest standard rooms in the district. Each room is an embodiment of EDITION’s timeless design married seamlessly with Kuma’s distinct Japanese artistry. The interiors feature a minimalist aesthetic with walnut timber, travertine, and cream-colored leather, complemented by green marble basins and chrome fixtures. Signature elements like EDITION faux-fur throws and artwork by Sayaka Maruyama and Takay Photography add a touch of sophistication.

The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza’s social spaces are equally impressive. The double-height lobby with its soaring windows has quickly become a landmark in Ginza’s landscape. The Lobby Bar, embodying EDITION’s signature elegance, serves as a sophisticated retreat from early mornings to late nights, offering coffee, pastries, and fresh-pressed juices.

The hotel’s dining venues are a celebration of culinary finesse. Sophie at EDITION on the 14th floor offers a light-filled modern brasserie experience, with menus that honor Japan’s seasonal ingredients and culinary traditions. The Roof, a unique rooftop oasis and Ginza’s first natural wine bar, provides a serene escape from the urban rush below.

A distinctive feature of the hotel is the Punch Room, the first of its kind in Japan. It offers a Japanese twist on 19th-century London punch recipes, with ingredients like sake and ryokucha tea. The Punch Room transforms from an elegant bar at night to a serene venue for afternoon tea during the day, offering innovative tea punches and assorted Japanese sweets and savories.

The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza is not just a luxury hotel; it’s a cultural statement that blends the historical charm of Ginza with contemporary luxury. It stands as a symbol of the dynamic spirit of Tokyo, offering an experience that is both authentic and innovative, making it an exciting new destination for both international visitors and local Tokyoites.
